What are Powers of Attorney?

Powers of Attorney are documents which are designed to allow someone to look after you and your affairs when you can’t, due to illness or any other circumstance.
There are three main types of Powers of Attorney:

  • Enduring Power of Attorney (Financial) Allows someone to look after your money and your legal affairs when you are no longer able to.
  • Enduring Power of Attorney (Medical) Allows someone to make important medical decisions for you when you cannot.
  • Power of Guardianship Allows someone to make lifestyle decisions for you, such as where you will live, when you can’t make those decisions for yourself.

Powers of Attorney cease upon your death, when your Will takes over. These documents are designed to give you protection and peace of mind.
